Baby Doll 11x14

The Baby Dolls are a part of Marid Gras in the African American community. As members of the African American neighborhoods, they are as iconic as the Mardi Gras Indian’s. Heralding out of Storyville, the red-light district of the French Quarters, the Baby Dolls were brothel and dance hall ladies that competed between each other for business on Mardi Gras wearing bonnets, bloomers, garters, and smoking cigars. The Baby Dolls became a part of the Mardi Gras tradition of second-line dancing alongside brass bands during Carnival Season.
